To address this, the Enroute Foundation launched a tree plantation program in Dhaka under the Sobuj Bangladesh Campaign. In partnership with Youth Hub and Life Serve Bangladesh, this initiative aims to combat urban air pollution, enhance green spaces, and reduce urban heat.

By planting trees across metropolitan areas, the program aspires to improve residents’ quality of life while promoting sustainability. Together, we are working toward a cleaner, greener Dhaka.

The Event Embodied A Series of Activities

1 September 2024: Tree Plantation at Tajmahal Road Park and Field

On 1 September, the campaign moved to the Tajmahal Road Park and Field, with 23 volunteers planting a variety of saplings in collaboration with park authorities. This effort contributes to creating a tranquil green oasis amidst Dhaka’s urban chaos.

5 September 2024: Tree Plantation from Mohammadpur BRTC Bus Stand to Mohammadpur Thana

On 5 September, the team, accompanied by special guest Officer-in-Charge Ali Iftakhar Hasan, planted saplings along the Mohammadpur BRTC Bus Stand to Mohammadpur Thana route. This collaboration highlighted the importance of tree plantation in public spaces and inspired young volunteers to take up environmental initiatives.

19 September 2024: Tree Plantation at Educational Institutions and Mohammadpur Graveyard

On 19 September 2024, the final phase of the tree plantation program took place at Mohammadpur Ideal Technical School & College, Firoza Bashar Ideal College, and Mohammadpur Graveyard. College authorities and graveyard officials actively participated, ensuring the saplings would be nurtured, contributing to long-term environmental sustainability.

Planting Saplings Around School

Students, teachers, and volunteers enthusiastically participated in planting saplings around the school grounds, turning the space into a vibrant green zone. The activity emphasized the importance of tree plantation in schools and its role in creating environmentally conscious communities. Participants planted native tree species, contributing to the school’s ecological balance and biodiversity.

Knowledge Sessions on Plantation

The Chief Guest spoke on the benefits of tree plantation, including its role in combating global warming and improving biodiversity. Participants learned practical tree plantation techniques and methods to ensure the long-term care of the saplings.

Tree Distribution Ceremony Day

In a gesture of empowerment, the Enroute Foundation distributed saplings to every student. Each participant received a variety of tree species to plant at home, expanding the campaign’s impact beyond the school. By encouraging students to care for these saplings in their home gardens, the program aimed to instill a sense of responsibility towards nature at a young age.
