Tree Plantation & Sapling Distribution in Mongla and Rampal

Expanding Green Cover Across Coastal Bangladesh

As part of the nationwide tree plantation campaign under the supervision of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, a tree plantation and sapling distribution initiative was carried out in different areas of Mongla and Rampal, as well as at the Bangladesh Coast Guard, West Zone (Mongla).

The program was sponsored by the Bangladesh-India Friendship Power Company (Pvt.) Limited (BIFPCL) and implemented by Enroute Foundation, bringing together government representatives, institutional partners, and community stakeholders around a shared commitment to environmental conservation and climate resilience.

From Commitment to Action

The initiative focused on increasing green cover through tree plantation and making tree saplings available to local communities and participating institutions.
Plantation and sapling distribution activities were conducted across selected locations in Mongla and Rampal, including the Bangladesh Coast Guard, West Zone in Mongla.

The activities included:

  • Tree plantation at selected locations
  • Distribution of tree saplings
  • Community participation
  • Institutional engagement
  • Environmental awareness
  • Promotion of green spaces
  • Support for climate resilience

Official Inauguration

The initiative was formally inaugurated through a tree plantation activity by Sheikh Faridul Islam, Honorable State Minister, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.

The event was attended by the Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNOs) of Mongla and Rampal, along with Md. Tarikul Haque, Chairman of Enroute Foundation.

Their participation, together with the active involvement of the Enroute Foundation team, contributed to the successful implementation of the program.

Growing a Greener Coastal Bangladesh

Mongla and Rampal are part of Bangladesh’s environmentally significant southwestern coastal region. Expanding tree cover in such areas can contribute to healthier local environments and strengthen community awareness around environmental conservation.
Through plantation and sapling distribution, the initiative encourages individuals and institutions to take an active role in creating and maintaining greener surroundings.

A Shared Commitment to Climate Action

Environmental conservation requires collective action. Initiatives such as this demonstrate how government institutions, corporate partners, development organizations, and communities can work together to support environmental sustainability.
The tree plantation program reflects Enroute Foundation’s continued commitment to the Sobuj Bangladesh vision and its broader efforts to promote environmental awareness, community participation, and climate resilience across Bangladesh.
